Coaching ROLE: Jarryd Hayne finally return back to rugby league and sign new deal with the Parramatta Eels as the assistant head coach….

As of February 7, 2025, Jarryd Hayne has  been appointed as the assistant head coach of the Parramatta Eels. However, he has recently re-engaged with rugby league through other significant roles.

In October 2024, Hayne joined the Fiji national team’s coaching staff as a mentor for the Pacific Championships. This marked his first involvement in rugby league since 2018. Hayne expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the team’s preparations and working with players like Maika Sivo and Viliame Kikau.

More recently, Hayne has confirmed his return to playing rugby league by signing a one-year contract with the Wentworthville Magpies, a feeder team for the Parramatta Eels. This agreement, lodged with the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL), allows him to participate in the Ron Massey Cup starting March 15, 2025. At 36, Hayne has been training diligently and aims to make a full-season comeback. In addition to playing, he will assist in coaching and mentoring junior players within the club.

These developments highlight Hayne’s renewed commitment to rugby league, both as a player and mentor, contributing his experience to the sport’s growth and the development of emerging talent.
