YUNGBLUD On His Relationship with OZZY OSBOURNE: “Ozzy Was Always Really My North Star.”
After meeting for the first time in 2022, YUNGBLUD and Ozzy Osbourne seemed to bond instantly, forging a powerful friendship that lasted until Ozzy’s passing in July 2025. In a heartfelt interview with Loudwire Nights, YUNGBLUD opened up about his deep connection with the rock legend, describing Ozzy not just as a friend, but as a guiding force in his career and life.
“I’ve known Kelly for years,” YUNGBLUD shared. “Me and Kelly really got on because we’re quite loud, we’re quite boisterous and we’re quite naughty, so me and Kelly have known each other for years. And I remember I had an idea for [the song] ‘The Funeral’ that I was like, I want Kelly to run me over in a car and someone was like, ‘Who was that,’ and she would just say, ‘I don’t know, it’s just some poser.’”
That tongue-in-cheek moment sparked his introduction to Ozzy. “From the first time I met him, Ozzy just got me,” YUNGBLUD continued. “He saw the chaos, the energy, and instead of being scared of it, he celebrated it. That meant everything to me.”
YUNGBLUD described late-night conversations with Ozzy about music, rebellion, and staying true to yourself in an industry that often tries to shape you. “Ozzy was always really my North Star,” he said softly. “He showed me that you can be wild and loud and still have the biggest heart in the room.”
Their bond was more than musical — it was personal, emotional, and inspiring. “I’ll carry his spirit with me on every stage I step onto,” YUNGBLUD concluded. “He wasn’t just a hero. He was family.”
