OFFICIAL RELEASE: The 2026 Yamaha YZ500F
Yamaha has officially unveiled the highly anticipated 2026 YZ500F, a powerful new contender in the motocross world. Built for riders seeking peak performance and razor-sharp handling, this next-generation model delivers an exceptional combination of speed, strength, and control.
At the heart of the YZ500F is a 499cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, tuned to generate an impressive 55.3 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 33.0 lb.-ft. of torque, giving riders commanding acceleration across any terrain. Yamaha’s engineers have refined the power delivery for a broader, more usable torque curve, ensuring top-end performance without sacrificing low-end grunt.
The 2026 model features a redesigned lightweight aluminum frame, enhancing agility and cornering precision. Paired with a fully adjustable KYB suspension system and updated linkage, the YZ500F offers improved stability and response, even on the roughest tracks. A new Launch Control System and traction mapping options allow riders to tailor power delivery to suit conditions and skill level.
Connectivity also takes a leap forward, thanks to Yamaha’s Power Tuner app, which allows wireless tuning of fuel and ignition settings directly from a smartphone. Riders can save and switch between multiple mapping profiles for track-specific optimization.
Ergonomics haven’t been overlooked. A slimmer body, revised seat shape, and grippier shrouds make for superior rider mobility and comfort during long motos.
The 2026 YZ500F will retail for $12,750 in the U.S., with a launch scheduled in selected European dealerships in June 2025, followed by a North American release in July, and further global rollout shortly after.
From amateur racers to professional motocross athletes, the new YZ500F is Yamaha’s ultimate statement in performance and innovation.
