Tony Iommi Pays Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne Following His Passing

Legendary Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has shared a heartfelt tribute to his longtime friend and bandmate Ozzy Osbourne, following the shocking news of the rock icon’s death.

In a deeply emotional statement, Iommi expressed disbelief and sorrow over the loss of the man he shared decades of musical history with.

“I just can’t believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park,” he said. “It’s just such heartbreaking news that I can’t really find the words. There won’t ever be another like him.”

The two musicians co-founded Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 1968, alongside bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward. Together, they pioneered the heavy metal genre, leaving an indelible mark on music history. Despite years of personal and professional ups and downs, Iommi and Osbourne remained close, recently reuniting onstage in their hometown—what would become one of their final performances together.

“Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother,” Iommi added. “Ozzy wasn’t just the voice of Sabbath—he was the spirit, the heart. No one could light up a stage like he did, and no one had a voice that could shake the earth and still sound so human.”

He closed his message with thoughts for Osbourne’s family. “My thoughts go out to Sharon and all the Osbourne family. Rest in peace, Oz.”

Fans and fellow musicians around the world have also begun paying tribute to Osbourne, whose unique voice, dark charisma, and outrageous energy helped shape generations of rock and metal music. His legacy, both with Black Sabbath and as a solo artist, is sure to endure for decades to come.
