Angel Reese Suspended for One Game After Eighth Technical Foul

The WNBA has officially suspended **Angel Reese** of the Chicago Sky for one game—she exceeded the regular-season technical foul threshold by receiving her **eighth technical foul**, as announced on **September 4, 2025** ([Reuters][1], [WNBA][2]). Under current league rules, reaching this threshold results in an **automatic one-game suspension without pay**, with subsequent suspensions applied for every two additional technical fouls

The technical foul was assessed with **46 seconds remaining in the second quarter** of the team’s game against the Connecticut Sun, after Reese struck Sun forward **Aaliyah Edwards** in the head while fighting for rebounding position—deemed a “**non-basketball act**” and ruled as an unsportsmanlike technical by the officiating crew

Reese will miss the Sky’s upcoming game on **Friday, September 5**, against the **Indiana Fever**, marking one of the final four games of the season for the 10–30 Sky—also out of playoff contention

Her disciplinary issue comes amid broader controversy—following outspoken remarks criticizing the team’s leadership and remarking that she “might have to move in a different direction” if roster improvements aren’t made. Reese later issued a public apology for her tone and comments
