The Penrith Panthers have secured the services of rising star Blaize Talagi on a three-year contract, set to commence in the 2025 NRL season and extend through to 2027. The 19-year-old centre, who made his NRL debut in Round 3 of the 2024 season, has impressed with his versatility and attacking prowess. In 15 first-grade matches, Talagi scored 11 tries, showcasing his potential as a dynamic player. His ability to excel in various positions, including fullback, wing, centre, five-eighth, and off the interchange bench, adds depth to the Panthers’ roster .
Prior to joining the Panthers, Talagi was part of the Parramatta Eels, where he filled in at fullback during Clint Gutherson’s injury. Despite the Eels’ efforts to retain him, Talagi opted to join the Panthers, who are looking to replace departing playmaker Jarome Luai.
His signing is seen as a strategic move by the Panthers to bolster their squad and maintain their competitive edge in the league.
Talagi’s arrival at Penrith is expected to provide coach Ivan Cleary with additional options in the backline and potentially in the halves. With his skill set and adaptability, Talagi is poised to make a significant impact in the 2025 season and beyond.
