Brisbane Broncos’ key player, Selwyn Cobbo, has rejected a $35 million contract extension or signed with a new club. Recent reports suggest that contract discussions between Cobbo and the Broncos are currently on hold, with both parties focusing on the upcoming season.

In November 2024, it was reported that Cobbo’s management had paused contract negotiations to allow the 22-year-old to concentrate on his performance and fitness during the pre-season. New Broncos coach Michael Maguire emphasized the importance of Cobbo focusing on his training and on-field consistency, expressing confidence that contract matters would resolve naturally if Cobbo performs at his best.

Additionally, reports from late 2024 indicated that three NRL clubs had expressed interest in Cobbo as the Broncos delayed extending his contract. Despite this interest, Cobbo’s preference appeared to be staying with the Broncos, though he might need to consider more lucrative offers from other clubs.

As of now, there is no evidence to support claims of Cobbo rejecting a $35 million extension or signing with a new club. Both Cobbo and the Broncos seem to be prioritizing the upcoming season, with contract discussions expected to resume based on his performance and development.
