Robert Plant & Ozzy Osbourne Just Shared a Stage for the First Time — and It Was Pure Rock ‘n’ Roll Magic

On July 5, 2025, two of rock’s most indomitable voices—Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin and Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath—shared the stage together for the very first time. The historic encounter took place at Villa Park in Birmingham, celebrating Ozzy’s final performance with Black Sabbath during the “Back to the Beginning” farewell concert.

The night marked a poignant homecoming, with Osbourne, battling advanced Parkinson’s and confined to a throne-like chair, delivering both a solo set and a climactic reunion with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—the original Sabbath lineup—all performing live together for the first time in two decades.

The emotional highlight came when Robert Plant, invited as a special guest and longtime friend of Ozzy, joined him onstage. Plant’s presence added a powerful symbolic moment—two titans of British rock, hailing from the same industrial city, finally united under one spotlight. In the video above, Plant reflects on the moment as “timeless,” describing it as “pure rock ‘n’ roll magic” .

Adding to the emotional weight, the concert featured a galaxy of rock royalty: Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Steven Tyler, Slayer, and others all contributed to a celebratory atmosphere before Ozzy’s farewell set . The event kicked off with over 45,000 fans in attendance and raised a staggering £140 million, supporting Cure Parkinson’s Trust, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.

For plant and Ozzy, this sharing of the stage was more than a musical collaboration—it was a full-circle moment, bridging decades of rock legacy. As Plant eloquently put it, the performance felt timeless and transcendent—an unforgettable testament to the enduring power of rock ‘n’ roll friendship.
