Springer, a 6-foot-4 guard, was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. Over the past four seasons, he has appeared in 93 NBA games, splitting time between the 76ers and the Boston Celtics. In the 2023 G League Finals, Springer earned MVP honors, showcasing his potential in the developmental league. This season, he played in 26 games with the Celtics, averaging 1.7 points over 5.4 minutes per game. Following a trade to the Houston Rockets at the trade deadline, Springer was waived, leading to his current opportunity with the Jazz.

The Jazz have a history of utilizing 10-day contracts to evaluate talent. Notably, in February 2023, they signed former first-round pick Kris Dunn to a 10-day deal.
