Brisbane Broncos head coach Michael Maguire has confirmed that Adam Reynolds will continue as the team’s captain for the 2025 NRL season. Maguire, who previously coached Reynolds to a premiership victory with South Sydney in 2014, expressed confidence in Reynolds’ leadership, stating, “He is a winner. He’s taken that team to some pretty good places already, so as long as he’s fit and healthy and he is right, he is a great leader.” ([Sporting News](https://www.sportingnews.com/au/rugby-league/news/michael-maguire-makes-broncos-captain-call/78f7c54bccfd9988bca5e3b2?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

Reynolds, 34, has been with the Broncos since 2022 and has been instrumental in guiding the team, including leading them to the 2023 grand final. Despite an injury-interrupted 2024 season, where he managed only 13 games, Reynolds is eager to continue in his leadership role. He expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I’d love to do the job next year, 100 per cent… If the club or the coach wants me to be the captain, I’m more than happy to continue that job next season.” ([The Mercury](https://www.themercury.com.au/sport/nrl/brisbane-broncos-captaincy-sorted-after-adam-reynolds-declaration/news-story/524fb23398f2065470027e36ea50930c?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

In addition to reaffirming Reynolds’ captaincy, Maguire has expanded the team’s leadership group to include veteran playmaker Ben Hunt, who rejoined the Broncos on a two-year deal after a seven-year stint with the St. George Illawarra Dragons. Hunt’s return is seen as a significant boost, with Maguire noting, “Someone of Ben’s calibre coming into the team would definitely be great. Benny’s a world-class player… he’s got plenty of experience, and we all know what he’s capable of and what he brings.” ([Brisbane Times](https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/sport/nrl/i-can-grow-him-broncos-make-huge-cobbo-call-as-maguire-addresses-hunt-talk-20241104-p5knpa.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

The leadership group also features key players such as Patrick Carrigan, Payne Haas, and Kotoni Staggs, reflecting Maguire’s commitment to fostering a strong leadership culture within the squad. Maguire emphasized the importance of collective leadership, stating, “Everyone should be a leader at this club, from the youngest to the oldest, through our behaviours and our actions every day. That needs to be our mindset moving forward.” ([Nine](https://www.nine.com.au/sport/nrl/news-2025-adam-reynolds-retains-brisbane-broncos-captaincy-michael-maguire-comments-20250123-p5l6sk.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com))

With these leadership decisions, the Broncos aim to build on their recent performances and strive for success in the upcoming season.
