New Era: Savannah Bananas Owners Donate \$12.9M to Support Homeless Communities
In a powerful display of compassion and commitment, Jesse and Emily Cole, owners of the wildly popular Savannah Bananas baseball team, have donated their entire \$12.9 million in bonus and sponsorship earnings to help combat homelessness in the United States. The funds will be used to establish homeless support centers in both Chicago, Illinois and Rancho Cucamonga, California—two cities where homelessness continues to rise.
The initiative, announced at an emotional press conference, will fund the construction of 150 permanent housing units and provide 300 shelter beds for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The centers will also include essential services such as job training, mental health support, addiction recovery programs, and access to medical care.
“I have witnessed people struggling to survive the harsh winters in the U.S. without a roof over their heads, and I promised myself that if I ever had the chance, I would step up,” Jesse Cole said, standing beside his wife Emily. “No one should have to sleep outside in that kind of cold.”
The Coles, known for their energetic and unorthodox approach to baseball entertainment, have now extended their passion for community to an even greater cause. Their donation reflects a growing trend of athletes and sports entrepreneurs using their platforms for social good.
Local leaders in both Chicago and Rancho Cucamonga praised the initiative, calling it a “game changer” for their cities. Construction on the support centers is expected to begin in early 2026.
