Netflix has officially announced the production of *Prince of Darkness: The Ozzy Osbourne Story*, a highly anticipated biopic set to premiere on October 18, 2025. This film offers an unflinching, raw, and revelatory look into the life of John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne, chronicling his extraordinary transformation from working-class Birmingham roots to heavy metal godhood, cultural infamy, and ultimate redemption.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Andrea Berloff (*Straight Outta Compton*), the biopic delves deep into every defining chapter of Ozzy’s life. British actor Jack O’Connell (*’71*, *Unbroken*) portrays Ozzy, earning early Oscar buzz for his performance. Florence Pugh stars as Sharon Osbourne, capturing the emotional and complex relationship between the couple. Other notable cast members include Ben Whishaw as Tony Iommi and Joe Cole as Randy Rhoads.

The film’s soundtrack features remastered versions of Black Sabbath classics like “Paranoid” and “War Pigs,” alongside solo-era anthems such as “Bark at the Moon” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” A special tribute track, recorded by artists influenced by Ozzy—including Metallica’s James Hetfield and Ghost’s Tobias Forge—will play over the end credits.

In a rare statement, Ozzy shared his thoughts on seeing his life portrayed on screen:

> “It’s my bloody life—the good, the bad, the mental, and the music. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but I’ve had a hell of a ride. If this film shows people that you can fall a hundred times and still get back up, then it’s worth it.”

Sharon Osbourne, now an executive producer on the project, added:

Ozzy’s story isn’t just about fame or music—it’s about love, survival, and evolution. This film shows him as he really is, not the caricature—the man I fell in love with and have stood beside through every storm.”

With its October release date, *Prince of Darkness* is poised to be a standout rock biopic, offering both a cultural event and a critical darling heading into awards season. Netflix has positioned it as a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike.
