Australian point guard Taran Armstrong has signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors, as confirmed by his agent, Daniel Moldovan. This agreement allows Armstrong to split time between the NBA and the Warriors’ G-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Standing at 6-foot-6, Armstrong has been a standout in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL), playing for the Cairns Taipans. In the 2024-2025 season, he averaged 17.1 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game over 19 appearances. His impressive performance in the NBL has garnered attention, leading to his opportunity with the Warriors.
Prior to his NBL career, Armstrong played two seasons at California Baptist University, where he earned WAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2022 and was named to the All-WAC second team in 2023. His collegiate experience has contributed to his development as a versatile point guard.
The signing of Armstrong marks a significant milestone for the Warriors, who have an open two-way roster spot following the promotion of Quinten Post to their 15-man roster earlier in February. This move allows the Warriors to further strengthen their roster depth as they prepare for the remainder of the season.
Armstrong’s transition from the NBL to the NBA reflects the growing trend of Australian players making an impact in the league. His signing with the Warriors is expected to provide him with valuable experience and exposure, potentially paving the way for a more prominent role in the NBA in the future.
