BREAKING NEWS: Netflix to Premiere Definitive Ritchie Blackmore Documentary

Netflix has announced an upcoming documentary on one of rock’s most enigmatic and influential guitarists, Ritchie Blackmore. Set to premiere later this year, the film promises to be the definitive portrait of the legendary musician whose work with Deep Purple and Rainbow helped shape the sound of hard rock and heavy metal.

Titled “Blackmore: Beyond the Strings”, the documentary will delve deep into Blackmore’s five-decade career, from his classical-inspired riffs and pyrotechnic solos to his mysterious personal life and musical evolution. Through rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and commentary from fellow rock legends such as Jimmy Page, Tony Iommi, and Joe Satriani, the film will explore the complexity and brilliance of a guitarist often described as both a virtuoso and a recluse.

Executive produced by Oscar-winning documentarian Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?), the film aims to capture not only Blackmore’s unparalleled musicianship but also his unpredictable journey—from stadium-filling rock god to his later foray into Renaissance folk with Blackmore’s Night.

Netflix promises a raw, unfiltered look at the man behind iconic tracks like “Smoke on the Water,” “Highway Star,” and “Man on the Silver Mountain.” For fans and music historians alike, the film offers a rare glimpse into the mind of a trailblazing artist who has often shunned the spotlight.

Blackmore: Beyond the Strings is slated for release globally on Netflix in late 2025. With its ambitious scope and unprecedented access, it is poised to become an essential watch for music lovers across generations.
