Netflix Announces Upcoming Tell-All Documentary on Glam Rock Legends Sweet — The Streaming Giant Promises Rare Footage, Untold Stories, and Backstage Drama in a Deep Dive into the Band Behind “Ballroom Blitz” and the Glitter-Fueled Chaos of the 1970s
Get ready to crank up the volume and step into the glittering chaos of glam rock’s golden age. Netflix has officially announced the release of “Blitzed: The Sweet Story”, a tell-all documentary chronicling the rise and reign of one of glam rock’s most iconic bands: Sweet.
Set to premiere globally this fall, the documentary offers fans an in-depth look at the British rockers behind anthems like “Ballroom Blitz,” “Fox on the Run,” and “Action.” Known for their flamboyant style, pounding rhythms, and rebellious spirit, Sweet dominated the airwaves and stages of the 1970s, helping to define a genre that blurred the lines between music and theater.
According to Netflix, the film will feature rare archival footage, never-before-heard demos, and exclusive interviews with band members, collaborators, and rock historians. It promises to go beyond the glitter and platform boots to explore the band’s internal struggles, creative clashes, and the toll of fame.
“This documentary will finally give Sweet the recognition they deserve,” said the film’s director, Helena Marsh. “They were far more than their image — they were innovators, survivors, and true rock pioneers.”
The project also pays tribute to late frontman Brian Connolly and drummer Mick Tucker, offering emotional insights from their families and long-time fans.
Sweet’s influence can still be felt in everything from glam metal to pop-punk, and “Blitzed” aims to reignite appreciation for their legacy — and introduce them to a new generation.
The documentary will be available to stream worldwide October 18, with a special London premiere and panel discussion featuring surviving members and special guests.
