Contrary to recent reports, Michael Malone has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Denver Nuggets through the 2029 season. In fact, the Nuggets parted ways with Malone in April 2025, ending his decade-long tenure as head coach. During his time with the team, Malone led the Nuggets to their first NBA championship in 2023 and became the franchise’s all-time winningest coach with 471 regular-season victories .
Following Malone’s departure, David Adelman, the team’s lead assistant coach, was appointed as the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025 season . Under Adelman’s guidance, the Nuggets advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals but were eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a seven-game series .
As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding a new head coach or any contract extensions for the 2025–2026 season. The Nuggets are currently in the process of evaluating their leadership and roster to determine the best path forward for the franchise.
