Lee Starkey, daughter of former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, has shown remarkable resilience in her battle against brain cancer. In 1995, at the age of 24, she was diagnosed with an ependymoma, a rare type of brain tumor. After collapsing in London, she was transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where Dr. Peter Black performed a successful four-hour surgery to remove the tumor . Following the surgery, Lee underwent daily radiation treatments for six weeks and made a full recovery.
Tragically, in 2001, Lee faced a recurrence of the same condition. She returned to Boston for further treatment, including another surgery and radiation therapy, and once again overcame the illness .
Today, Lee lives in London with her partner, former Beady Eye guitarist Jay Mehler. The couple has three children: triplets named Ruby, Jakamo, and Smokey, born in 2009 . Despite her early health challenges, Lee has led a fulfilling life, balancing her family and personal endeavors.
Her journey serves as a testament to strength and perseverance in the face of adversity.
