“She has been awesome for me. She calms me down,” Walsh expressed. “Not everything is about footy and a job. When I am in the [Broncos] facility, I am the footy player. When I step out and see my little one and my family, I am dad.” He added, “I am still so young, but I feel if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be in this position. She is pretty awesome. I get emotional about it.”

He recounted feeling stressed days before a crucial game against the Melbourne Storm, but spending time with his daughter brought him back to reality. “Three or four days before the [Storm] game I was just stressing, and just having her around it brings everything back to reality,” Walsh said. “I enjoy being a dad and she is the best girl in the world. She keeps me grounded too.”

After starting his NRL career with the New Zealand Warriors, he sought an early release from his contract to return home. Warriors CEO Cameron George acknowledged Walsh’s commitment to fatherhood, stating, “I understood Reece’s reasons, and we wanted him to be a dad. Being separated from his daughter would have been heart-wrenching for him.”
