In a unique and heartwarming tribute, an English farm has honoured rock legend Ozzy Osbourne with a colossal pumpkin mural made from more than 10,000 squashes. Each October, Sunnyfields Farm in Totton, Hampshire, hosts its popular “Pumpkin Time” immersive event, which begins with the grand unveiling of its iconic giant pumpkin pyramid. The subject of this eye-catching display is chosen by a public vote, and over the years it has featured beloved figures like Beetlejuice, Paddington, and The Nightmare Before Christmas — the latter earning a Guinness World Record for the largest cucurbit mural ever created.
This year, following Ozzy Osbourne’s passing at the age of 76 in July, fans overwhelmingly cast their votes to honour the Black Sabbath frontman. With more than 70% of the public choosing him, the farm’s team of artists and volunteers set to work. According to Thomas Nelson, director of Sunnyfields Farm, it took 16 people four and a half hours to assemble the vibrant mosaic.
The final masterpiece, affectionately dubbed the “Prince of Pumpkins,” depicts a smiling Ozzy Osbourne wearing his signature round glasses and crucifix necklace, surrounded by three flying bats — a playful nod to his infamous bat-biting stage moment. The giant mural, crafted from pumpkins, squashes, and gourds of different colours, stands as both a stunning piece of autumn art and a heartfelt farewell to one of rock’s most legendary icons.
Sunnyfields Farm’s Pumpkin Time event runs from Saturday, 4th October, through to Halloween on 31st October, giving fans and visitors plenty of time to marvel at the Ozzy tribute. For many, it’s more than just a seasonal attraction — it’s a fitting celebration of a music icon whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
