Haiden Deegan delivered a commanding performance at the 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross finale in Salt Lake City, clinching his first-ever 250SX East/West Showdown victory. The 18-year-old Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider seized the holeshot and led all 18 laps at Rice-Eccles Stadium, marking his third win of the season and a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.

Despite Deegan’s dominant ride, the 250SX East title slipped through his fingers. Entering the finale 15 points behind Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle, Deegan’s victory narrowed the gap to just four points. However, Vialle’s eighth-place finish was sufficient to secure his first American Supercross championship.

In the 250SX West division, RJ Hampshire of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing clinched the championship by finishing second in the Showdown, five points ahead of Levi Kitchen.

Reflecting on his season, Deegan acknowledged the challenges and growth he experienced:”Obviously as a racer and a guy who’s won a championship already, the goal is always to win another championship,” Deegan said. “But you’ve got to look back at it, and my second year of racing Supercross, I’m 18, there’s plenty of time. We’re going to keep learning, keep doing the best that we can, and I feel like we’re going upward.”

As the Supercross season concludes, Deegan now turns his attention to the upcoming AMA Pro Motocross Championship, aiming to build on his momentum and continue his ascent in the sport.
