Pittsburgh Steelers President Art Rooney II has signed an eye-popping \$11.5 million deal with Netflix to produce a feature film that promises to be more than just a documentary—it’s a full-blown cinematic tribute to one of the most iconic franchises in sports history.

Dubbed *Steel Hearts: The Story of the Pittsburgh Steelers*, the film will blend dramatic reenactments, never-before-seen archival footage, and intimate interviews with Steelers legends, past and present. From the steel mills that forged the team’s gritty identity to the six Super Bowl rings that cemented their legacy, this Netflix original will tell the story of Pittsburgh’s team as it’s never been told before.

Rooney, a lifelong steward of the franchise founded by his grandfather Art Rooney in 1933, described the project as “a love letter to the fans, the city, and the game that shaped us.” He added, “This isn’t just about football. It’s about resilience, loyalty, and a culture that made Pittsburgh proud for generations.”

The film is expected to spotlight key eras in Steelers history—from the Steel Curtain defense of the 1970s and the legendary leadership of Chuck Noll and Terry Bradshaw, to the grit of the Cowher era and the modern triumphs under Mike Tomlin and Ben Roethlisberger. But more than that, it aims to capture the soul of a city whose identity is inseparable from its team.

Production begins later this year, with a 2026 release planned to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the team’s first Super Bowl win. Fans are already buzzing, eager to see their heroes and hometown represented on a global stage.

In true Steelers fashion, this film promises to be tough, proud, and unforgettable—just like the bla

ck and gold.
