Great news for metal fans! Netflix has dropped the **first trailer** for the upcoming documentary Metallica Saved My Life — directed by Jonas Åkerlund — that turns the spotlight on legendary thrash-metal band Metallica and the community of fans whose lives it has shaped.

In the trailer, we witness raw, emotional testimonials from fans around the world — from someone recovering after a motorcycle accident who found hope in “Enter Sandman”, to metal-cowboys in Botswana and die-hards in Japan — all pondering what Metallica’s music truly means to them. According to press materials, the film “explores our world through the lives of fans who have supported each other through highs, lows, trials and triumphs for over four decades.”

Intriguingly, the band members themselves — including James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo — make appearances, reflecting on their own journey and the symbiotic relationship they share with their audience.

The film is being previewed in select cities during the band’s M72 World Tour in North America, teasing a theatrical sneak-peek before its full release later this year.

While the trailer doesn’t yet show exact Netflix availability, the buzz suggests this will be a major streaming event. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, the film promises more than just concert footage — it’s a celebration of music, identity, community, and how one band’s art resonates globally.
