FEW MUNITES AGO: Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders finally signed new deal with the Dallas cowboys to take over 2025 season as head coach…

As of January 22, 2025, Deion Sanders remains the head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes and has not signed a deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Speculation about Sanders potentially joining the Cowboys intensified after the team parted ways with head coach Mike McCarthy earlier this month. Reports indicate that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reached out to Sanders regarding the vacancy. Sanders described the opportunity as “intriguing” but emphasized his commitment to the University of Colorado, stating, “I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body, and the community.”

Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, played for the Cowboys from 1995 to 1999, winning Super Bowl XXX in his first season with the team. Since transitioning to coaching, he has led the Colorado Buffaloes to significant improvements, including a 9-4 record in the 2024 season and an Alamo Bowl appearance.

Despite his success at the collegiate level, Sanders has no prior NFL coaching experience. His contract with Colorado includes an $8 million buyout as of January 1, 2025, decreasing annually. Sanders signed a five-year, $29.5 million deal with Colorado in 2023, earning $5.7 million in 2024.

While the prospect of Sanders returning to Dallas has generated excitement among fans and analysts, no official agreement has been reached. As of now, Sanders continues to focus on his role with the Colorado Buffaloes, and the Cowboys’ search for a new head coach is ongoing.
