Elvis Presley Turned Down a Date with Marilyn Monroe—Because of This Surprising Reason

Elvis Presley was no stranger to the spotlight—or to dating some of Hollywood’s most beautiful women. But when it came to Marilyn Monroe, the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll made a surprising choice: he turned her down after just one meeting.

It was June 1960 when Elvis and Marilyn first crossed paths backstage at Paramount Studios. Their brief encounter sparked instant buzz, but it wasn’t until later that his agent, Byron Raphael, arranged for a more private meeting between the two legends. According to Raphael, the stars were curious about one another and eager to see what might develop behind closed doors.

Raphael claimed he drove Elvis to a discreet location where Marilyn was waiting. There, away from the cameras and crowds, the two icons reportedly spent a passionate evening together. But while many would assume sparks flew between the silver screen siren and the rock idol, Elvis had a different take.

After the meeting, Elvis reportedly confided in friends that while he admired Marilyn’s beauty, he found her a little too “mature” for his taste. More specifically, sources claim he mentioned her body was “a little too curvy” for him, preferring the slimmer silhouettes of women like Priscilla Beaulieu, who would later become his wife.

The rendezvous remained a closely guarded secret for decades, until Raphael’s memoirs and Hollywood insiders began to share the details. While fans continue to speculate what might have been between Elvis and Marilyn, one thing is certain: even the biggest stars don’t always fall for each other—no matter how perfect the match may seem on paper.
