In a significant development for the motocross community, Eli Tomac has officially extended his contract with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing for the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship season. This announcement, made on August 21, 2024, confirms that Tomac will continue his illustrious career with Yamaha, marking his fourth year with the team. Notably, Tomac has indicated that the 2025 season will be his final full year of professional SuperMotocross (SMX) racing.
Tomac’s tenure with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has been marked by remarkable achievements. In his debut year with the team in 2022, he secured both the 450SX and 450MX Championships and captained Team USA to victory at the Motocross of Nations. Over the past seasons, despite facing injuries that sidelined him during critical moments, Tomac has amassed an impressive tally of wins—15 in 450SX and 14 in 450MX. These victories have solidified his position as the winningest rider currently competing and have further cemented his legacy in the sport.
Reflecting on his decision to continue racing, Tomac stated, “I’m very pleased to announce I’ve signed with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing for the entire 2025 SuperMotocross season. I anticipate 2025 being my final full season of professional SMX racing. While the last two Supercross seasons have had unfortunate endings with injury, we’ve had many more great race wins, and championships along the way. So now is the time to enjoy the ride, get back to winning races and competing for the SuperMotocross title.”
The extension of Tomac’s contract has been met with enthusiasm from the Yamaha team. Jeremy Coker, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 Team Manager, expressed his excitement, stating, “Having Eli make the decision to come back for another year is a big one for both him and the team. We are looking forward to his final year of racing and we will do everything in our power to have him go out on top.”
As Tomac prepares for his final professional season, the motocross community eagerly anticipates the continuation of his storied career. His return not only bolsters Yamaha’s prospects for the upcoming season but also provides fans with the opportunity to witness one of the sport’s greats compete at the highest level one last time.
