BREAKING: Woman Hit by Distracted Driver in Williamsburg Identified as Mick Jagger’s Partner

Williamsburg, Brooklyn — A peaceful afternoon turned tragic when a 37-year-old woman, out walking with her family, was struck by a driver who ran a red light while reportedly using his phone. The incident occurred late Saturday near Bedford Avenue and North 6th Street, a busy intersection in the heart of Williamsburg.

Witnesses said the driver appeared distracted and made no attempt to brake before hitting the woman, who was crossing the street with her partner and young child. Emergency responders arrived within minutes and quickly transported the woman to a nearby hospital. Authorities later identified her as Melanie Hamrick, a former ballerina and longtime partner of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

Hamrick, who shares a young son with Jagger, was reportedly conscious but in serious condition at the time of transport. Sources say Jagger, currently in Europe preparing for an upcoming tour, was notified immediately and is making arrangements to return to New York.

The driver, a man in his early 30s, remained at the scene and is being questioned by NYPD. Initial reports suggest he may face charges for reckless driving and using a handheld device while operating a vehicle.

Locals expressed outrage over the incident, citing a pattern of drivers ignoring traffic signals and distracted driving in the area. “There’s a school just two blocks from here,” said one witness. “It could’ve been anyone’s child.”

Melanie Hamrick is widely respected in both the dance and arts community. The severity of her injuries has not yet been disclosed, but doctors say she is expected to recover.

NYPD continues to investigate. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
