In a significant boost to their 2026 recruiting class, Ohio State has secured a commitment from five-star offensive lineman Immanuel Iheanacho. The 6-foot-7, 320-pound standout from Georgetown Preparatory School in Maryland chose the Buckeyes over notable programs such as Penn State and Notre Dame.
Iheanacho’s decision comes after a series of campus visits and evaluations. He first visited Ohio State in June 2024 during the program’s fourth recruiting camp of the summer. Reflecting on his experience, Iheanacho stated, “The camp was great, I’m trying to get better. I learned a little bit of technique that I didn’t really know coming in.”
Ohio State’s reputation for developing elite offensive linemen played a pivotal role in Iheanacho’s commitment. The Buckeyes’ coaching staff, particularly offensive line coach Justin Frye, established a strong rapport with Iheanacho throughout the recruitment process. Their emphasis on player development and a winning culture resonated with the young lineman.
Prior to his commitment, Iheanacho had also been heavily courted by Penn State. He unofficially visited the Nittany Lions on April 13, 2024, and developed a connection with head coach James Franklin. Iheanacho noted, “They are definitely one of my higher schools moving forward due to the coach’s mindset on how he wants to advance the program, and how he wants his players to carry themselves after football ends.”
Despite the strong push from Penn State and interest from Notre Dame, Ohio State’s consistent communication and the opportunity to compete at the highest level in the Big Ten were decisive factors for Iheanacho.
