BREAKING: Ohio State AD leaves door wide open for Ryan Day to land blockbuster extension… See more

Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork has expressed strong support for head coach Ryan Day, indicating that Day will “absolutely” continue leading the Buckeyes into the 2025 season. This endorsement comes despite recent challenges, notably a fourth consecutive loss to Michigan, which had intensified scrutiny of Day’s tenure.

Bjork, who transitioned from Texas A&M to Ohio State in July 2024, praised Day’s innovative coaching style and recruiting prowess. He emphasized the importance of focusing on the process rather than adopting a “championship or bust” mentality, suggesting a shift in perspective for evaluating the program’s success.

In response to the mounting pressure, Day reaffirmed his commitment to Ohio State, stating, “I have one of the best jobs in America.” He acknowledged the disappointment stemming from the recent loss but emphasized the need to move forward and focus on upcoming opportunities, particularly the College Football Playoff.

Despite the challenges, Day’s overall record remains impressive at 66-10, with a notable 47-1 mark against Big Ten opponents excluding Michigan. His leadership has been instrumental in maintaining Ohio State’s status as a perennial contender on the national stage.

The strong backing from Bjork, coupled with Day’s reaffirmed dedication, suggests that discussions about a potential contract extension could be on the horizon. Such an extension would not only solidify Day’s future with the Buckeyes but also signal the university’s confidence in his vision and leadership.

As the Buckeyes prepare for their upcoming playoff game against Tennessee, the focus remains on capitalizing on the season’s opportunities and striving for championship success. The support from the athletic department and Day’s commitment to the program aim to foster a renewed sense of purpose and determination within the team.
