An English farm has paid tribute to rock legend Ozzy Osbourne with a spectacular pumpkin mural made from over 10,000 squashes.
Every October, Sunnyfields Farm in Totton, Hampshire, hosts its immersive ‘Pumpkin Time’ event, which kicks off with the unveiling of a colossal pumpkin pyramid. Visitors flock to see the enormous mosaic, which changes each year based on a public vote. Previous designs have included characters such as Beetlejuice, Paddington, and *The Nightmare Before Christmas*, the latter of which set a Guinness World Record for the largest cucurbit mural.
This year, more than 70% of the public voted to honour Ozzy Osbourne following his death at the age of 76 in July. The resulting pumpkin mosaic, affectionately dubbed the “prince of pumpkins,” depicts the Black Sabbath legend with his signature round glasses and a crucifix necklace, framed by three flying bats.
Thomas Nelson, director of Sunnyfields Farm, revealed that creating the intricate design was no small feat. “It took 16 people four-and-a-half hours to assemble the Ozzy mosaic,” he said. The team carefully arranged the 10,000-plus pumpkins to capture the rock star’s likeness, balancing scale, colour, and detail to bring the tribute to life.
The Pumpkin Time event has become a highlight of the Hampshire calendar, attracting families, Halloween enthusiasts, and fans of the unusual alike. In addition to the pumpkin pyramid, the farm offers immersive autumn experiences, including hayrides, pumpkin carving workshops, and themed photo opportunities, ensuring visitors of all ages can get into the spooky spirit of the season.
Sunnyfields Farm’s celebration of pumpkins runs from Saturday, 4th October, through to Halloween on 31st October, giving visitors nearly a month to marvel at the intricate tribute to the “Prince of Darkness.” With Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy immortalised in gourds, this year’s pumpkin display promises to be one of the most memorable yet.
