LSU Coach Kim Mulkey Cryptically Addresses Angel Reese’s Absence from Team After Second Missed Game

LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey recently addressed the ongoing absence of star player Angel Reese, who missed her second consecutive game. Following LSU’s 73–50 victory over Southeastern Louisiana, Mulkey was asked about Reese’s status but declined to provide specifics. She stated, “Angel was not in uniform tonight. Angel is a part of this basketball team, and we hope to see her sooner rather than later.”

Earlier, Reese had been benched during the second half of LSU’s game against Kent State, with Mulkey attributing the decision to coaching strategy. Reese’s absence has sparked speculation, but Mulkey emphasized her commitment to protecting her players’ privacy. She remarked, “I’m going to protect my players. Always. They are more important. That’s a family in that locker room.”

Reese herself addressed the rumors on social media, urging followers not to believe everything they read. She has not publicly commented further on her situation.

As LSU prepares for upcoming games, the team continues to perform strongly, with players like Mikaylah Williams and Hailey Van Lith stepping up in Reese’s absence. The Tigers remain hopeful for her return to the lineup.
