NEW YORK KNICKS: Tucker and the Knicks agreed to a second 10-day contract Thursday….

Knicks Sign P.J. Tucker to Second 10-Day Contract

The New York Knicks have signed veteran forward P.J. Tucker to a second 10-day contract, the team announced Thursday. Tucker, who originally joined the Knicks on a short-term deal earlier this month, will now have another opportunity to contribute as the team continues its playoff push.

Tucker, 38, was acquired by the Clippers in the James Harden trade but struggled to find a role in Los Angeles before being dealt to Indiana at the trade deadline. The Pacers subsequently waived him, allowing him to sign with the Knicks. Despite limited playing time so far, the Knicks value Tucker’s defensive toughness, experience, and leadership, especially with key players sidelined due to injuries.

In his brief stint with New York, Tucker has averaged minimal statistics but has provided veteran presence and defensive intensity, traits that have defined his 13-year NBA career. With injuries affecting the Knicks’ frontcourt, including Julius Randle’s extended absence, Tucker’s ability to guard multiple positions and bring a physical edge remains an asset.

New York has been shorthanded recently, relying heavily on Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart to carry the load. The team currently sits in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff picture, and Tucker’s presence could help stabilize the rotation as they await the return of key players.

If Tucker performs well over the next 10 days, the Knicks will have to decide whether to sign him for the remainder of the season or let him return to free agency. With his championship experience from the 2021 Milwaukee Bucks and his reputation as a tough-nosed defender, he could be a valuable piece for the Knicks as they gear up for the postseason.
