As of 2025, there are no credible reports suggesting that Jarryd Hayne is returning to the Parramatta Eels. Given his legal troubles and time away from professional rugby league, a return seems highly unlikely.
Hayne, once a superstar of the NRL, had two stints with the Eels (2006–2014 and 2018) and was instrumental in their 2009 Grand Final run. However, after leaving the NRL for an NFL opportunity with the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, his career took various turns, including a brief return to rugby league with the Gold Coast Titans and the Eels. His second stint with Parramatta in 2018 showed glimpses of his past brilliance, but it was not enough to secure a long-term contract.
Off the field, Hayne’s legal battles have overshadowed his sporting achievements. He was convicted of sexual assault in 2021, later had the conviction overturned, and faced a retrial, which led to another conviction in 2023. Given the NRL’s strict stance on player behavior and the public scrutiny surrounding Hayne, it is doubtful that Parramatta—or any NRL club—would consider signing him.
Additionally, from a footballing perspective, Hayne has been out of the game for several years. The speed and intensity of the NRL have only increased, making a comeback at his age and condition highly improbable. Parramatta, under coach Brad Arthur, has also built its squad around younger talents and established stars, leaving no clear spot for Hayne.
Unless there is a dramatic change in circumstances, a return to the Eels remains unrealistic.
