Long before Aneesah Morrow became one of the most dominant rebounders in college basketball history, her career was at a crossroads. Growing up in Chicago, basketball was in her blood—her father, Ed Morrow Sr., played at Nebraska, and her brother, Ed Morrow Jr., followed in his footsteps. But despite her natural talent, Aneesah faced doubts about whether she could reach the highest levels of the sport.
In high school, Morrow attended Simeon Career Academy, a school known for producing elite basketball talent. However, Simeon was primarily recognized for its boys’ basketball program, with legends like Derrick Rose and Jabari Parker passing through its doors. Morrow had to carve out her own legacy, proving that she belonged among the best. Despite skepticism about her ability to compete at an elite level, she quickly became one of the top players in the nation, earning McDonald’s All-American honors.
When it came time to choose a college, Morrow decided to stay close to home, committing to DePaul. From the moment she stepped on the court, she made an immediate impact. As a freshman, she led the nation in rebounding, averaging an astounding 13.8 boards per game while also scoring at an elite level. Her relentless work ethic and physicality in the paint made her a nightmare for opponents, and she set multiple records along the way.
Despite her individual success, Morrow sought greater challenges and transferred to LSU, joining a powerhouse program under coach Kim Mulkey. At LSU, she became an integral part of a championship-contending team, proving that her game could translate to the highest levels of competition.
