HE’S BACK: Jett Lawrence finally return to racing against the SMX 2025 championship…

In September 2024, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Jett Lawrence of Team Honda HRC Progressive successfully defended his SuperMotocross World Championship title. Riding his 2025 CRF450RWE, Lawrence achieved a perfect 1-1 moto finish in the SMX Final, securing his second consecutive championship.

The 21-year-old Australian has been with Honda’s factory team since 2021 and has rapidly ascended in the motocross world. In just four years, he has amassed eight professional championships, including the 2024 450 AMA Supercross title. An injury during the 2024 AMA Pro Motocross season temporarily sidelined him, but he made a triumphant return for the SMX series, demonstrating resilience and determination.

The 2024 SMX series was particularly notable for the Lawrence family. Jett’s older brother and teammate, Hunter Lawrence, secured victory in the second round and finished second in both the Las Vegas finale and the overall series standings. Although the brothers tied on points, Jett clinched the championship by virtue of winning two rounds compared to Hunter’s one. This achievement not only highlighted their individual talents but also underscored the family’s dominance in the sport.

Financially, the championship was rewarding for both. Jett earned a $1 million prize for his victory, while Hunter took home $500,000 for his runner-up position. These substantial rewards reflect their hard work and the prominence of the SuperMotocross World Championship in the motocross calendar.

Honda’s dominance in the SMX Playoffs has been evident since its inception. The manufacturer has secured all six overall wins to date, showcasing the effectiveness of their racing program and the capabilities of their machines. Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda, praised Jett’s accomplishments and emphasized the unique format of the SuperMotocross World Championship, noting its suitability for their riders and bikes.

Looking ahead, Jett Lawrence’s schedule remains busy. He and Hunter are set to represent Team Australia at the Motocross of Nations on October 6 at Matterley Basin in England. Following that, they will compete in the Paris Supercross on November 16-17. These events provide further opportunities for the Lawrence brothers to showcase their skills on the international stage and continue their impressive careers.

In summary, Jett Lawrence’s return to racing culminated in a successful defense of his SuperMotocross World Championship title. His performance, alongside his brother Hunter’s strong showing, underscores their significant impact on the sport and sets the stage for future successes.
