FEW MUNITES AGO: Mrs. Benson and the Super Bowl Host Committee welcomed Super Bowl LIX to New Orleans at the opening press conference…

On February 21, 2024, Mrs. Gayle Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints, alongside the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee, officially welcomed Super Bowl LIX to New Orleans during a kickoff press conference. The event marked the beginning of preparations for the city’s record-tying 11th time hosting the NFL championship game, scheduled for February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome.

Mrs. Benson emphasized the city’s unparalleled experience in hosting major events, stating, “For the 11th time, we will come together and show the NFL, hundreds of thousands of visitors, the country, and the world why New Orleans is so often chosen to host the Super Bowl.” She highlighted the community’s ability to unite and deliver exceptional experiences for fans worldwide.

The press conference also introduced key figures leading the hosting efforts. Marcus Brown, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Entergy, was announced as the Host Committee Chair. He expressed confidence in the city’s readiness, stating, “Now, the focus is on New Orleans, but we’re no stranger to being on this world stage.” He emphasized the city’s rich culture, culinary delights, and renowned hospitality as foundations for a successful event.

In addition to leadership announcements, the Host Committee unveiled the Supplier Diversity Program, chaired by Kim Boyle, Vice-Managing Partner at Phelps Dunbar. This initiative aims to support minority, women, disabled, LGBTQ+, and veteran-owned businesses by providing professional development, networking, and subcontracting opportunities, ensuring inclusive participation in Super Bowl-related activities.

A significant highlight of the preparations is the ongoing $500 million renovation of the Caesars Superdome. Set to be completed before the event, the five-year project includes wider concourses, signature bars, updated sideline loges, enhanced suite accommodations, new escalators and elevators, upgraded restrooms, and new atrium lobbies. These enhancements aim to provide an unparalleled experience for attendees.

The press conference concluded with a nod to the city’s cultural heritage. For the first time, the NFL collaborated with a local artist, Mardi Gras Indian Queen Tahj Williams, to design the Super Bowl game logo. Her creation intertwines New Orleans’ culture and heritage with the grandeur of the Super Bowl, symbolizing the unique blend of tradition and celebration that defines the city.

As the countdown to February 9, 2025, continues, New Orleans stands poised to showcase its legacy of hospitality and celebration, reaffirming its status as a premier host for one of the world’s most-watched sporting events.
