The Brisbane Lions have announced a groundbreaking partnership with WHOOP, the leading human performance wearable, as their official supply partner for the 2025 NAB AFLW season. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in sports technology integration, with WHOOP set to provide the Lions’ AFLW players with advanced insights into health, recovery, and performance.
WHOOP’s strap-based technology delivers continuous monitoring of key metrics such as strain, recovery, and sleep. By using these insights, the Lions’ coaching and performance staff will be able to tailor training loads, optimize recovery protocols, and support overall player wellbeing. With the AFLW competition becoming increasingly demanding and competitive, this partnership is expected to give the Lions a vital edge both on and off the field.
Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann welcomed the new partnership, highlighting the importance of innovation in elite sport. “We are always looking for ways to give our athletes the tools they need to perform at their best,” he said. “WHOOP’s technology will allow us to better understand our players’ physical demands and help us make smarter decisions when it comes to preparation and recovery.”
WHOOP Vice President of Partnerships, International, John Sullivan, expressed excitement at joining forces with the Lions. “We are proud to support one of the AFLW’s most successful clubs,” he said. “WHOOP’s mission is to unlock human performance, and we look forward to empowering Brisbane’s players with data that can help them reach their full potential.”
For the Lions’ AFLW squad, this partnership represents more than just access to wearable technology—it’s a commitment to player care and long-term performance sustainability. As they prepare for the 2025 season, the team will be equipped with tools that could redefine how they train, recover, and compete at the highest level.
