Charley Hull Breaks Three-Year LPGA Drought Despite Lingering Health Struggles

Charley Hull ended a three‑year LPGA title drought in dramatic fashion at the **2025 Kroger Queen City Championship**, overcoming a series of health setbacks to lift her first LPGA trophy since 2022.

Triumph and the Challenges She’s Overcome

Hull’s win in Cincinnati marked her **third career LPGA victory**, joining the 2016 CME Group Tour Championship and the 2022 Volunteers of America Classic.

The victory didn’t come easy. She played through a ligament tear in her ankle—“completely in half,” as she put it—sustained in a car park shortly after the British Open.

* On top of the ankle injury, Hull revealed she has **cysts growing in her back** from a torn muscle. Her training and performance had been affected by a drop in swing speed, weight loss, and an inability to train fully due to these injuries.

Why This Win Matters

* Beyond simply ending the winless stretch, this is a **psychological breakthrough**. Hull said that being “always the bridesmaid” had been frustrating, and now this victory changes that narrative for her.

* The win also underscores how resilient she has been under duress—handling illness, physical injury, and mental strain, yet staying in contention and delivering when it mattered most.
