Collingwood forward Beau McCreery has been cleared to return for Thursday night’s clash against Adelaide, in a timely boost for the Pie

Collingwood forward Beau McCreery has been cleared to return for Thursday night’s clash against Adelaide, in a timely boost for the Pies’ forward pressure and intensity.

Senior coach Craig McRae confirmed McCreery’s inclusion during a media appearance earlier today, stating the dynamic forward had ticked all the boxes after missing last week with concussion.

“Beau’s in — he’s feeling good, trained strongly, and brings that energy we love,” McRae said.

Known for his relentless pressure and ability to force turnovers in the front half, McCreery’s return adds vital grunt and spark to a forward line that has been reshuffled throughout the season due to injury and form.

“He’s one of those players that lifts the group with his effort and physicality. The fans love it, and so do we,” McRae added.

McCreery has averaged five tackles and over 15 pressure acts per game this season, often playing a crucial role in locking the ball inside Collingwood’s attacking half. His absence was felt last week, with the Magpies struggling to contain opposition rebound and generate chaos forward of centre.

The Crows, who sit just outside the top eight and are fighting to keep their finals hopes alive, will be no easy task — but McCreery’s inclusion helps tip the pressure balance back in Collingwood’s favour.

“Adelaide bring heat, especially around the contest, and we need to match that from the opening bounce. Having Beau back helps us do that,” McRae said.

The Magpies will finalise the rest of their team on Wednesday evening, but McCreery’s confirmed return is a welcome one for a side looking to recapture its trademark ferocity as September looms.
