Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles has announced his decision to return for another season with the Buckeyes, opting to forgo the 2025 NFL Draft. This choice comes after a standout junior year where Styles transitioned from safety to linebacker, showcasing his versatility and impact on the defense.

In the 2024 season, Styles led the team with 52 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, one sack, and a fumble recovery. His performance earned him a spot as one of 15 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, which honors the nation’s top linebacker.

Defensive coordinator Jim Knowles expressed satisfaction with Styles’ adaptation to the linebacker role, stating, “I’m very pleased with Sonny. I think he’s being put into a lot of different situations… And I know this, that sometimes when you see him or any of our players being off on a play or looking like they’re out of position, that to me goes back to me and training and coaching.

Styles’ decision to remain at Ohio State provides the defense with an experienced leader poised to further elevate his game. His return is anticipated to be a significant asset as the Buckeyes aim for a championship run in the upcoming season.
