LATEST NEWS: Ronnie O’Sullivan retirement verdict reached as snooker rival twists the knife – ‘We won’t see him’….

Recent developments in the snooker world have intensified discussions about Ronnie O’Sullivan’s potential retirement. The 49-year-old, seven-time world champion, withdrew from the Masters on medical grounds, a decision he described as a “nightmare” after he “lost the plot” during a Championship League match.

Judd Trump, a prominent figure in snooker, suggested that fans might not see O’Sullivan in many more tournaments, emphasizing the importance of appreciating his contributions while he is still active. Trump also noted that O’Sullivan’s intimidating presence has diminished, with more players now capable of defeating him.

Stephen Hendry, who shares the record of seven World Championship titles with O’Sullivan, speculated that O’Sullivan might retire before contemporaries John Higgins and Mark Williams. Hendry suggested that O’Sullivan’s competitive drive may have lessened due to his significant earnings and reduced participation in matches.

O’Sullivan himself has acknowledged a decline in his performance, stating he is “finished with snooker and on the decline,” and expressing a desire not to continue playing beyond his capabilities. Despite these sentiments, he has indicated a willingness to continue competing, aiming to return as a “different player” in future tournaments.

These developments suggest that while O’Sullivan’s retirement is not officially confirmed, both his peers and the player himself recognize signs pointing toward the conclusion of his illustrious career.
