James Patrick Page OBE (born 9 January 1944) is an English musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known as the guitarist and founder of the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin. Widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential guitarists in the history of rock music, Page’s innovative style, technical skill, and creative vision helped define the sound of an era.

Page began his professional career as a session guitarist in London, playing on numerous recordings in the 1960s. He later joined The Yardbirds in 1966, initially as a bassist before switching to lead guitar. When The Yardbirds disbanded in 1968, Page formed a new group initially known as the New Yardbirds, which soon became Led Zeppelin. Alongside Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham, Page propelled the band to global stardom with their powerful fusion of blues, rock, and folk influences.

Led Zeppelin released a series of critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums, including *Led Zeppelin IV* (1971), which features the iconic track “Stairway to Heaven,” widely considered one of the greatest rock songs of all time. Page’s guitar work, characterized by his use of alternate tunings, innovative recording techniques, and dynamic solos, was central to the band’s sound.

After Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 following Bonham’s death, Page continued to make music through solo projects and collaborations, including The Firm and Coverdale–Page. He has also worked on remastering Led Zeppelin’s catalog and preserving the band’s legacy.

In recognition of his contributions to music, Page was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2005. His influence continues to inspire generations of musicians, and his work remains a benchmark for rock guitarists worldwide.
