David Gilmour, the legendary Pink Floyd guitarist, made a triumphant return to the stage in 2024 with his “Luck and Strange” tour, marking his first live performances in eight years. The tour supported his fifth solo album, Luck and Strange, released on September 6, 2024, which topped the UK Albums Chart and featured contributions from his family and the late Richard Wright .
The tour commenced with two intimate rehearsal shows at The Brighton Centre on September 20 and 21, 2024. It then moved to Rome’s historic Circo Massimo for six nights from September 27 to October 3, followed by six performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall between October 9 and 15 .
In the United States, Gilmour performed at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on October 29 and 30, and at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 4 and 5. Due to overwhelming demand, additional shows were added: October 31 at the Hollywood Bowl and November 6, 9, and 10 at Madison Square Garden .
The setlist featured a blend of new tracks from Luck and Strange and classic Pink Floyd songs, including “Wish You Were Here,” “Comfortably Numb,” and “Time.” Gilmour’s band included longtime collaborator Guy Pratt on bass, keyboardists Greg Phillinganes and Rob Gentry, drummer Adam Betts, guitarist Ben Worsley, and backing vocalists Louise Marshall, Hattie Webb, and Charley Webb .
While the 2024 tour concluded in November, fans remain hopeful for future performances. Gilmour has hinted at working on new material, suggesting the possibility of additional shows in 2025 .
