In an Instagram video shared ahead of the finale, Morgan explained his change of heart, stating, “Ever since I left The Originals, it hasn’t left me, and Niklaus Mikaelson has always been there in my head and in my heart.” He emphasized that his return was motivated by the desire to honor the father-daughter relationship between Klaus and Hope Mikaelson, portrayed by Danielle Rose Russell. Morgan clarified that the cameo was not about fan-favorite ships but about family, adding, “This is about family. Family is power.”
