Former Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a tragic car crash that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old woman, Tina Tintor, in Las Vegas. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 2, 2021, when Ruggs, driving his Chevrolet Corvette at a speed of 156 mph with a blood alcohol level of 0.16%, collided with Tintor’s Toyota RAV4, causing it to burst into flames.

Ruggs, who was a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders, was released by the team shortly after the crash. In May 2023, he pleaded guilty to felony DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Subsequently, in August 2023, he was sentenced to a prison term ranging from three to ten years.

The University of Alabama and head coach Nick Saban expressed their condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized the importance of making responsible decisions. Saban stated, “Sometimes the consequences can be devastating, and these consequences are going to probably be pretty devastating to Henry.”

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the severe consequences that can result from impaired driving. It underscores the responsibility that comes with being in the public eye and the importance of making choices that prioritize the safety of oneself and others.
