Lenny had always been known for his laid-back approach to life, especially when it came to schedules. It wasn’t that he was unreliable; it was just that he liked to live in the moment. But today was different. He’d promised his bodyguard, Marcus, that he would be ready for the concert on time. And not just on time – he would be punctual, a word that Lenny usually associated with other people but rarely with himself.
As Marcus drove to Lenny’s place, he was mentally preparing himself for the usual routine: a quick change, some last-minute touches, and a rush out the door. He knew Lenny well – the singer was always running on his own time, and Marcus had become accustomed to the chaotic nature of their pre-event rituals.
But when Marcus arrived at Lenny’s house, he noticed something strange. The front door was wide open. He stepped inside, expecting to hear the usual sound of Lenny strumming his guitar or humming around the house. But instead, it was eerily quiet.
Marcus called out, “Lenny?” His voice echoed through the large foyer, but there was no answer. His eyes scanned the room and landed on a pair of shoes lined up neatly by the door. The faint smell of cologne lingered in the air, a sign that Lenny had already prepared himself.
Marcus walked further into the house, checking the living room and kitchen, but still no sign of Lenny. As he made his way toward the stairs, a sudden realization hit him – Lenny had to be ready early, right? A chill ran down Marcus’s spine as he climbed the steps, wondering if Lenny had truly changed his ways.
To his surprise, when he reached the top of the stairs, he found Lenny sitting on the couch in the hallway, fully dressed, his outfit crisp and polished. He wore a tailored suit, his hair was neatly combed, and he had a calm, confident air about him. Lenny looked up and grinned as Marcus stood frozen in the doorway.
“Well, look at you,” Marcus said, dumbfounded. “You’re actually ready an hour early? What’s going on here?”
Lenny chuckled, his usual mischievous glint in his eyes. “I figured if I’m going to be on stage tonight, I might as well show up to the prep with the same attitude, right? It’s all about making a good first impression. Besides, I didn’t want to give you any extra stress today.”
Marcus, still processing the unexpected sight, shook his head with a smile. “Guess you’re full of surprises, Lenny. Let’s get going then. The show must go on.”
Lenny stood up, adjusted his suit, and with a nod to Marcus, was ready to take on the world – just a little earlier than anyone had anticipated.
