John Force Announces Retirement from Professional Drag Racing After 2025 NHRA Season, Marking End of Illustrious 45-Year Career

Legendary NHRA driver John Force has officially announced that the 2025 season will be his last, bringing an end to one of the most storied careers in professional drag racing history. The 16-time NHRA Funny Car champion, known for his fierce competitive spirit and larger-than-life personality, has been a dominant force in the sport for over four decades.

Force, 75, has amassed more than 150 career wins, making him the winningest driver in NHRA history. His success on the track, combined with his commitment to the growth of drag racing, has made him an icon in motorsports. Through his team, John Force Racing, he has mentored and developed numerous drivers, including his daughters Brittany and Ashley Force Hood, as well as reigning Funny Car champion Austin Prock.

“This sport has given me everything, and I’ve given it everything I’ve got,” Force said in his retirement announcement. “I’m not done yet—I still have one more season to give the fans and my team everything I have. But after 2025, it’ll be time to step away.”

Force’s impact extends beyond his racing accomplishments. His sponsorship deals with brands like Castrol, Peak, and Chevrolet have helped elevate NHRA’s visibility, and his relentless work ethic has inspired generations of racers.

As the 2025 season unfolds, fans will have one final opportunity to witness a true legend behind the wheel. While he may be stepping away from competition, John Force’s legacy in NHRA will live on for generations to come.
