Brisbane Broncos Captain Adam Reynolds Announces Imminent Retirement

Brisbane Broncos captain Adam Reynolds has announced his imminent retirement, bringing an end to a decorated NRL career. The veteran halfback, who was only recently appointed as the club’s official skipper for the 2025 season, cited ongoing injuries and the demands of the game as key factors in his decision.

Reynolds, 34, joined the Broncos in 2022 after a decade with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, where he won the 2014 premiership. Since arriving in Brisbane, he has been instrumental in reviving the club’s fortunes, guiding them to the 2023 NRL Grand Final and mentoring the next generation of talent. His leadership, game management, and pinpoint kicking have made him one of the most influential playmakers of his era.

In a heartfelt press conference, Reynolds reflected on his career and the tough decision to step away.

“This club has been incredible to me, and while it’s not easy to walk away, I know the time is right,” Reynolds said. “My body is telling me it’s time, and I want to finish on my own terms.”

Broncos coach Kevin Walters praised Reynolds’ impact on the team, describing him as a “true professional and a leader who has left a lasting legacy.” The club will now look towards younger talents like Ezra Mam and Reece Walsh to step up in his absence.

Reynolds is expected to remain involved in rugby league, potentially taking on a coaching or mentoring role within the Broncos’ system. As fans prepare to farewell a modern-day great, his influence on the game and the Broncos will undoubtedly be felt for years to come.
