LSU Women’s Basketball Earns No. 3 Seed, Set to Face San Diego State in NCAA Tournament

The LSU women’s basketball team has secured a No. 3 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament and will face No. 14 seed San Diego State in the first round. The defending national champions, led by head coach Kim Mulkey, will begin their tournament journey looking to make another deep run.

LSU (28-5) earned its high seeding after a strong regular season and a solid performance in the SEC Tournament. The Tigers, powered by star players Angel Reese, Flau’jae Johnson, and Aneesah Morrow, have been dominant throughout the season and will be one of the top contenders in the tournament.

San Diego State (24-9) enters the tournament after winning the Mountain West Conference title, securing an automatic bid. The Aztecs will look to pull off an upset against the defending champions, relying on their disciplined defense and balanced scoring attack.

The game will be played at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, giving LSU a home-court advantage in the opening round. If the Tigers advance, they will face the winner of the 6 vs. 11 matchup in their region.

LSU will need to stay focused as they attempt to defend their national title. With a deep roster and the experience of last year’s championship run, the Tigers are poised to make another strong push toward the Final Four.

Tip-off time and broadcast details will be announced soon.
