BREAKING: Small Forward Janae Kent Commits to LSU

LSU has added another elite talent to its women’s basketball program, as small forward Janae Kent has officially committed to the Tigers. Kent, a highly regarded recruit from Oak Forest, Illinois, chose LSU over several top programs, further strengthening head coach Kim Mulkey’s already formidable roster.

A 6-foot-1 wing with a versatile skill set, Kent is known for her ability to score at all three levels. She possesses a smooth shooting stroke, excels in transition, and has the defensive length to guard multiple positions. Her combination of size, athleticism, and scoring ability makes her a perfect fit for LSU’s fast-paced, high-energy system.

Kent’s commitment comes at a time when LSU continues to dominate the recruiting trail. After winning the 2023 national championship, Mulkey has made it clear that the Tigers are determined to remain among the nation’s elite. Adding a player like Kent only reinforces that mission.

“I chose LSU because of the culture, the coaching staff, and the opportunity to grow as a player and person,” Kent said in her announcement. “Coach Mulkey’s vision for the program is something I want to be a part of.”

Kent comes from a strong basketball pedigree—her father, Juwan Howard Kent, played college basketball at Ohio University. Her combination of natural talent and high basketball IQ has made her a standout at both the high school and AAU levels, where she has consistently impressed scouts.

With Kent joining the fold, LSU continues to build toward another championship run. She will bring immediate depth to the wing position and provide another offensive weapon for the Tigers as they look to maintain their dominance in the SEC and on the national stage.
