BOOM: 5-Star QB Colton Boomer Shocks College Football World by Decommitting from Boise State, Commits to Ole Miss Over Penn State

In a stunning turn of events, five-star quarterback Colton Boomer has flipped his commitment from Boise State to Ole Miss, sending shockwaves through the college football landscape. The highly sought-after signal-caller had been committed to Boise State for months, but after a late push from Power Five programs, he decided to take his talents to Oxford.

Boomer, a 6’4″, 215-pound prospect out of California, had been the crown jewel of Boise State’s 2025 recruiting class. His strong arm, elite pocket presence, and ability to extend plays made him one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation. However, after taking official visits to both Penn State and Ole Miss, the dynamic playmaker had a change of heart.

“It was a really tough decision, but after talking with my family and coaches, I felt that Ole Miss was the best place for me,” Boomer said. “Coach [Lane] Kiffin and his staff have an incredible track record with quarterbacks, and I believe their system will give me the best chance to develop and compete at the highest level.”

Penn State made a strong push late in the process, with head coach James Franklin making multiple in-home visits to try and land the talented QB. But in the end, Boomer felt that the Rebels’ high-powered offense and Kiffin’s reputation for developing NFL-caliber quarterbacks were too good to pass up.

Boomer’s flip is a massive win for Ole Miss and a tough blow for Boise State, which had hoped to build its future around the elite quarterback. Now, the Rebels add another star to their already impressive recruiting class, positioning themselves as a major contender in the SEC.
